Bake tender boneless chicken breasts smothered in a creamy, flavorful garlic parmesan sauce for a simple family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (if using breadcrumbs)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and pepper. Place the chicken in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and Italian seasoning until smooth.
  4. Pour the creamy garlic parmesan sauce evenly over the chicken breasts.
  5. If using breadcrumbs, mix the breadcrumbs with the melted butter and sprinkle over the top of the sauce on each chicken breast.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit and the sauce is bubbly.
  7. Let the cheesy garlic parmesan chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a low carb chicken bake, skip the breadcrumbs.
  • You can add 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top during the last 5 minutes of baking for extra cheesiness.
  • This oven baked chicken recipe works well with chicken thighs as well; adjust cooking time as needed.
