Make this homemade peanut sauce in just five minutes. This creamy, savory sauce works as a dip, salad dressing, or drizzle for noodles and bowls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten free)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional, for heat)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Combine the peanut butter and warm water in a medium bowl. Whisk until mostly smooth.
  2. Add the soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha (if using), and minced garlic to the bowl.
  3. Whisk all ingredients together until the sauce is completely smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add water, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency for dipping or drizzling.
  4. Taste the peanut sauce and adjust seasonings. Add more maple syrup for sweetness or soy sauce for saltiness.
  5. Use immediately as a peanut dipping sauce or drizzle over noodles, salads, or vegetables.

Notes

  • For best results when storing, place the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. The sauce will thicken when chilled; whisk in a small amount of warm water before serving to restore the creamy texture.
  • To make this sauce vegan, ensure you use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • This recipe is naturally gluten free if you use tamari instead of standard soy sauce.
